The first in Moscow monument to the literary hero A. Gaidar - Malchishu-Kibalchish - was established in May 1972, on the day of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the All-Union Pioneer Organization named after V.I. Lenin at the main entrance to the building, which was then called the Palace of Pioneers, and today it is the Moscow City Palace of Children and Youth Creativity on Vorobyovy Gory. Its creators - sculptor V.K. Frolov and architect V.S. Kubasov - sought to reflect the dynamism of the teenager's image - in movement and outburst, in a fluttering shirt, with a sword in one hand.

The monument, like the image of Malchish-Kibalchish, the hero of "Tales of Military Secret, Malchish-Kibalchish and his firm word" - symbolized all teenagers who were devoted to their homeland and gave their lives for it. The character of Arkady Gaidar led a detachment of boys when their fathers went to war with the "bourgeois", but because of treachery Plokhish was captured by the Chief Burzhuin. Under torture, he tried to find out the Military Secret, which Malchish-Kibalchish did not extradite and died without waiting for the arrival of the Red Army.
