12 Leninsky prospect

В 1940 году на Большой Калужской улице в рекордные сроки выросли одиннадцать домов, занявших четную и нечетную сторону проспекта. Четырнадцать месяцев понадобилось авторам проекта – архитекторам А. Г. Мордвинову, Д.Н. Чечулину и Г.П. Гольцу для возведения зданий новым поточным методом.

Со стороны Октябрьской площади ряд высотных домов по четной стороне открывает дом номер 12. Одиннадцать этажей, пять подъездов, 88 квартир – дом отвечал всем новым требованиям, которые предъявляло время к жилым постройкам столицы. Квартиры дома имели высокие потолки, большие окна. В центре здания возвышается квадратная башня – пентхаус.

Комплекс жилых домов архитектора Мордвинова был построен для членов Академии наук СССР, переехавшей из Ленинграда в Москву в 1934 году. Дом № 12 расположен по правую сторону от въездных ворот в здание Президиума Академии наук, который занимал Александрийский дворец Нескучного сада.

Так же ряд квартир достался работникам органов госбезопасности и обороны страны.

Жилой дом 12 – брат-близнец стоящего рядом дома номер 16. Вместе они обозначают въезд в Нескучный сад к Академии наук.

За постройку жилого комплекса Академии наук, а также разработку скоростного поточного метода домостроения архитекторы проекта удостоены Сталинской премии.

This is one of eleven buildings included in the Academy of Science of the USSR complex constructed using a new high-speed line method. Eleven buildings rose on the odd and even side of Grand Kaluga street in 1940 in record time. It took fourteen months to erect new buildings designed by architects A.G. Mordvinov, D.N. Chechulin and G.P. Goltz using mass-production method. Starting from Oktyabrskaya square the line of high-rise buildings is opened by the house number 12. Eleven floors, five entries, 88 apartments – house totally fit the new requirements that apply to residential buildings of the capital at the time. Apartments in the building had high ceilings and large windows. There is a square tower - penthouse in the center of the building. The apartment complex of the architect Mordvinov was built for the members of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, which moved from Leningrad to Moscow in 1934. House number 12 is located on the right side of the entrance gate to the building of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences, which occupied the Alexandria Palace Neskuchny Garden. Some of the apartments were given to employees of state security and national defense. Residential building 12 is the twin brother of the house number 16 standing next to it. Together they represent the entry into Neskuchniy garden to the Academy of Sciences. Architects were awarded the Stalin Prize for the construction of a residential complex of the Academy of Sciences and for the development of high-speed line construction method.
