D.A. Pavlov’s apartment building

В 1900 г. предприниматель и крупный московский домовладелец Дмитрий Абрамович Павлов заказывает известному русскому архитектору, автору гражданских и церковных зданий Николаю Петровичу Маркову постройку пятиэтажного доходного дома на Пречистенском (Гоголевском) бульваре.

Выстроенный в духе поздней эклектики с элементами классики, дом привлекал потенциальных жильцов своей необычной конфигурацией: он как бы преломляется в середине, повторяя траекторию бульвара.

Квартиры в доме арендовались представителями самых разных сословий, а на первом этаже расположились магазины, лабазы и трактиры.

После революции здесь, как и везде в Москве, были устроены коммунальные квартиры. В одной из них с середины 1920-х гг. жил народный артист СССР Б.В. Щукин — первый и непревзойденный исполнитель роли В.И. Ленина в кино и театре.

После проведенного в начале 2000-х гг. капитального ремонта в здании расположился бизнес-центр. На первом этаже, как и 100 лет назад, принимают посетителей рестораны и магазины.

In this house with a curious configuration, repeating the trajectory of the boulevard, lived the People's Artist of the USSR B.V. Shchukin. Dmitry Abramovich Pavlov, entrepreneur and a major Moscow’s landlord ordered Nikolai Petrovich Markov, the famous Russian architect, author of civil and religious buildings to build a five-story apartment building on Prechistensky (Gogolevsky) Boulevard in 1900. The house was built in the spirit of the late eclecticism with classical elements. It attracted potential tenants by its unusual configuration: it seems to be refracted in the middle, repeating the trajectory of the boulevard. Apartments in the house were rented by representatives of various classes. Shops, restaurants and a storage shed were on the ground floor. Communal apartments were arranged in the building after the revolution just like everywhere in Moscow. B.V. Shchukin, the People's Artist of the USSR, the first and unsurpassed performer of V.I. Lenin’s role in movies and theater lived in one of them since the mid -1920s. Following the overhaul of the building business center is located there since the early 2000s. Restaurants and shops located on the ground floor just like a hundred years ago, open its doors for visitors and shoppers.
