House Demidova

Прекрасный ампирный особняк с шестиколонным портиком № 18 по Пятницкой улице - дом горнозаводчика Демидова. В основе здания – двухэтажная постройка в стиле раннего классицизма конца XVIII века. Тогда владение принадлежало Фёдору Борисовичу Лепёшкину. Дом располагался торцом к Пятницкой улице, фасадом во двор. Вскоре после пожара 1812 года уже для нового владельца – горнозаводчика Демидова - по проекту замечательного архитектора Осипа Ивановича Бове было построено ныне существующее здание. Украшением здания является шестиколонный ионический портик, опирающийся на первый, цокольный этаж, а также изящный лепной декор, характерный для московского ампира.

В 1909 году к левой части дома был пристроен незначительный объём, придавший зданию небольшую асимметрию.

В 1972 году памятник архитектуры был отреставрирован. Тогда же была отреставрирована сохранившаяся с правой стороны здания глухая каменная ограда с воротами 1830-х годов.

Со стороны двора дом был усилен пилястрами-контрфорсами. Для какой цели это было сделано в начале XIX века не ясно, но как оказалось позже – это было мудрое решение. В настоящее время под зданием проходит линия метро, и вибрация не лучшим образом сказывается на состоянии старинного дома.

С 1880 года дом принадлежал собору Василия Блаженного. Во втором этаже в начале ХХ века до своей мученической смерти проживал настоятель собора отец Иоанн (Восторгов), расстрелянный в сентябре 1918 года. Это был первый случай судебного преследования православного священнослужителя. В 2000 году он был прославлен в лике святых Русской Православной Церкви.

Wonderful Empire-style mansion with a six-columned portico number at 18 Pyatnitskaya Street is the house of Demidov. At the heart of the building a two-storey building in the style of early classicism of the XVIII centuryis located . Then the possession belonged to Fyodor Borisovich Lepeshkin. The house is located with the side towards Pyatnitskaya street and with facade fronting the backyard. Soon after the fire of 1812, already for the new owner - the mining company of Demidov - under the project of the remarkable architect Osip Ivanovich Bove the present building was constructed.

The decoration of the building is a six-column Ionic portico, leaning on the first, ground floor, as well as elegant stucco decor, typical for the Moscow Empire.

In 1909, to the left of the house was added a small amount, which gave the building a slight asymmetry.

In 1972 the monument of architecture was restored. At the same time, a stony stone fence with a gates of the 1830s preserved on the right side of the building was restored.

An interesting detail: from the side of the courtyard the house was reinforced with pilasters-buttresses. For what purpose this was done at the beginning of the XIX century is not clear, but as it turned out later it was a wise decision. At the moment, the subway line is under the building, and vibration does not have the best effect on the state of the old house.

Since 1880 the house belonged to St. Basil's Cathedral. On the second floor, at the beginning of the 20th century, prior to his martyrdom, Father Ioann (Vostorgov), rector of the cathedral, was shot in September 1918. This was the first case of prosecution of an Orthodox clergyman. In 2000 he was glorified in the image of the saints of the Russian Orthodox Church.
