Church of all moners’ happiness at Kalitnikovskoe cemetery

После страшной чумы 1770–71 годов из санитарных соображений власти запретили хоронить в черте города и вывели кладбища за Камер-Коллежский вал. Одним из них стало Калитниковское кладбище за Покровской заставой. На нем в 1773 году была освящена деревянная церковь во имя иконы Божией Матери «Всех скорбящих Радость».

По легенде, название местности связано с тем, что эту землю пожаловал Крутицкому подворью московский князь Иван Калита, но истории опровергли эту версию. Ближе к истине предположение, согласно которому здесь проживали калитники – мастера, изготовлявшие кожаные сумки и кошели, называвшиеся «калитами» (от того же слова появилось и прозвище московского князя).

Все кладбища, созданные в 1771–72 годах, обеспечивались временными деревянными храмами для отпевания умерших. На Калитниковском кладбище была возведена Скорбященская церковь, но в 1776 году она сгорела и была заменена новой деревянной с приделом во имя Боголюбской иконы Божией Матери. Эти работы велись на пожертвования московского оберполицеймейстера Н.П. Архарова.

В 1834–38 годах чуть поодаль построена существующая каменная церковь по проекту Н.И. Козловского. На месте алтаря деревянного храма сохраняется памятный столб с Боголюбской иконой Божией Матери.

Основная часть церкви представляет собой здание в стиле ампир: кубический объем, увенчанный ротондой с куполом и малой главкой. С запада к четверику примыкает небольшая трапезная с двумя приделами: Николая Чудотворца и Александра Невского. Двухъярусная колокольня была пристроена в 1868 году на средства купца А.А. Челнокова.

В 1881 году на деньги купца И.А. Куприянова с запада к колокольне пристроен дополнительный объем для ризницы. Существующий четырехъярусный иконостас создан в 1905–12 годах на средства Н.С. Поманского. Тогда же появились настенные росписи по проекту архитектора И.Т. Барютина.

В XIX веке Калитниковское кладбище считалось не очень престижным, тем более что при своем создании оно граничило с бойнями. Потом по соседству появился Нижегородский железнодорожный вокзал со складами и цехами. В связи с этим здесь почти нет дворянских захоронений, преобладают купцы и мещане. В его северо-восточной части расположен большой пруд. При кладбище существовал Дом бесплатного помещения для бедных женщин на 80 человек, созданный И.Я. Купреяновым и А.И. Перловым в память об убийстве императора Александра II.

В ХХ веке церковь иконы Божией Матери «Всех скорбящих Радость» не закрывалась и полностью сохранила убранство начала столетия.

Closer to the truth, the assumption, according to which there lived the Kalitniki - masters, who made leather bags and purses, called "kalits" (from the same word appeared the nickname of the Moscow prince). All the cemeteries, created in 1771-72, were provided with temporary wooden temples for the burial service of the deceased. At the Kalitnikovskoye cemetery the Church of the Smoldering Church was built, but in 1776 it burned down and was replaced by a new wooden one with a chapel in the name of the Bogolyubsky Icon of the Mother of God. These works were conducted on the donations of the Moscow obverse policeman N.P. Arkharov. In the years 1834-38, an existing stone church was built a little further along the project of N.I. Kozlovsky. On the site of the altar of the wooden church, a memorial pillar with the Bogolyubsky icon of the Mother of God is preserved. The main part of the church is a building in Empire style: a cubic volume, crowned by a rotunda with a dome and a small cupola. From the west to the quadrilateral there adjoins a small refectory with two chapels: Nicholas the Wonderworker and Alexander Nevsky. The two-tiered bell tower was added in 1868 to the money of the merchant AA. Chelnokov. In 1881, with the money of a merchant I.A. Kupriyanov from the west tower was added to the additional amount to the sacristy. The existing four-story iconostasis was created in the years 1905-12 by means of N.S. Pomansky. Then there were the wall paintings by architect I.T. Baryutina. In the XIX century, the Kalitnikovskoye cemetery was considered not very prestigious, especially as it was bordered by slaughter with its creation. Then in the neighborhood appeared Nizhny Novgorod railway station with warehouses and shops. In this regard, there are almost no noble burial places, merchants and petty bourgeoisie prevail. In its north-eastern part is a large pond. At the cemetery, there was a House of free space for poor women for 80 people, created by I.Ya. Kupreyanov and A.I. Perlov in memory of the murder of Emperor Alexander II. In the twentieth century the church of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" was not closed and completely preserved the decoration of the beginning of the century.
