15 Tverskaya street

На месте старой малоэтажной застройки Тверской улицы во время ее реконструкции и расширения к 1940 г. был выстроен жилой дом по проекту архитектора А.Г. Мордвинова и инженера П.А. Красильникова. Как и здание в начале улицы, созданное теми же мастерами, этот дом состоит из двух крупных частей, которые соединяются между собой с помощью массивной арки, раскинувшейся над проездом в Леонтьевский переулок. Несмотря на скромное убранство фасадов и их серый цвет, в отделке дома использованы декоративные элементы, ставшие частоупотребимыми в стилистике сталинского ампира, господствовавшей тогда в Москве. Так, центральная часть над аркой украшена аркадой, в боковых частях использованы граненые башенки, декорированные снизу узором, имитирующим рыбью чешую.

В здании проживало немало личностей, оставивших след в истории: так, в 1943–1951 гг. здесь жил маршал К.К. Рокоссовский, в 1940–1952 гг. — певец С.Я. Лемешев, в 1940–1971 гг. — певец, народный артист СССР М.Д. Михайлов, а также А.Т. Твардовский и И.А. Лихачев. В 1970-х гг. в доме располагался книжный магазин «Дружба», продававший литературу из стран социалистического лагеря — позднее он переехал в бывший дом Сытина на Тверской, возле Пушкинской площади.

Thus, the central part of the arch is decorated with arcades, in the lateral parts used faceted towers decorated bottom pattern that simulates the fish scales. The building was home to many individuals left their mark in history: · Marshal K.K. Rokossovsky lived here in 1943-1951. · Singer S.J. Lemeshev lived here in 1940-1952. · M.D. Mikhailov, the Singer, People's Artist of the USSR lived here in 1940-1971. · A.T. Twardowski and I.A. Likhachev lived here in various years. "Friendship" bookstore was located In the house in 1970s. Books of the authors who lived in the “socialist camp” countries were sold here. It moved to the Sytin’s house on Tverskaya near Pushkin Square later.
