National Centre for Contemporary ArtsThe National Center for Contemporary Art (NCCA) is a museum-exhibition, informational, educational and research organization, which is focused on the development of modern domestic art and includes the implementation of programs and projects in the field of audiovisual art and design in the country and abroad. The Order “On the Establishment of the National Center for Contemporary Art” was issued on August 11, 1992 by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and on August 16, 1994, the NCCA was established and began its activities. In the 1990s, the NCCA played a prominent role in the reorganization of the socio-cultural life of Russia. At the moment when modern art in our country only acquired conditions for its normal existence and development, the center became an important and vital structure that consolidated the work of contemporary art masters and stimulated their creative activity. The activity of the NCCA was important both for Moscow, where the Center was then based, and for many regions of the country, where thanks to the initiative and efforts of the NCCA, art projects of modern art were carried out, which led to the activation of the processes of its development on the places. Today, when the efforts of previous years are beginning to bring their results and bear fruits, the National Center for Contemporary Art continues to be active in the development and popularization of national contemporary art, its integration into the world artistic context. At present, the NCCA is a network organization whose branches are open in the largest cultural centers of our country: St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Vladikavkaz and Tomsk. All of them independently develop and implement their creative programs. The NCCA (Moscow) coordinates their activities.
