Lefortovo history museum

The museum of the history “Lefortovo” is the reflection in the history of the small district of Moscow – The German suburb of the events connected with Peter the Great and his reforms which changed life of all Russia. The exposition of the museum embraces historical period from the age of Peter the Great to the present. The representatives of the sovereign power: Catherine I, Anna Ioannovna, Elizaveta Petrovna, Catherine II, Peter II and Paul were the frequent guests in Lefortovo in the XVIII century. In the 19th century, industry was intensively developing here, military schools were being built. The documents and photos of huge industrial objects are presented in the exposure which reflects the history of district of the 20th century. Each historical age is presented by many paintings which recreate historical appearance of Lefortovo. The maps of the museum visually demonstrate the development of this unique corner of Russia. Museum staff conducts various sightseeing, costumed, bus and walking tours. The museum of the history Lefortovo is a member of the Museum association “Museum of Moscow”.

Информация о музее

Музей был открыт 25 сентября 1999 года в честь 300-летия района Лефортово. Это единственный в Москве музей, экспозиция которого посвящена истории одного района.

Сейчас мы с вами пройдёмся по экспозиции, материалы которой рассказывают о трёх веках жизни района, вошедшего в черту города Москвы в середине XIX века. Кроме того, залы разделены на три тематические зоны, связанные с тремя сферами жизни района: медицинской, военной и промышленной.

Среди экспонатов музея есть как подлинные предметы, так и научные воспроизведения. Музей истории «Лефортово» является филиалом Музея Москвы.

A variety of exhibitions are held in the main building of the museum and its many branches. The Bakhrushin Museum is always open for theater lovers. In addition to a detailed excursion program, interesting for both children and adults, the museum organizes lectures on the history of the theater using unique stock materials, meetings with famous artists, and creative evenings.

The Moscow museum of archeologyThe Moscow museum of archeology, located in an underground pavilion on the depth of 7 meters in the historical centre of the city, directly on the place of large archeological excavations of the 1993-1996th, gives a view of the medieval capital, history of development of the territory of modern Manezh Square, contains overview about methodology of archeological research. The museum acquaint with material culture of Moscow and the Moscow region from the Paleolithic to the 19th century. The exposition is based on the foundations of the Voskresenskiy Bridge of the 17-18th centuries, which connected two banks of the Neglinnaya River in the past, that were discovered during the excavations.
