XVII в.

XVIII в.

XIX в.

The area was formed in 1932-1938 years when the entire block of houses between the hotel "Moscow" and playpens was demolished. Combining the Resurrection, and the old Moiseevskaya Manezh Square, a huge space area was named the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution. In the XVII century on the corner of Tverskaya Street and Moss Street located Moiseevsky female monastery. At the site of the monastery abolished in 1883 a chapel was built in the name of Alexander Nevsky. The chapel, like Plevnenskoy, is a monument to soldiers killed in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878., And, unfortunately, it was the first religious building in the endless series of churches, chapels and monasteries, which the Soviet authorities demolished in favor of the new policy. In the XVIII century the quarter was cut by a network of small alleys. In the XVI century was nearby Oprichny yard Ivan the Terrible, where he settled Stremyannaya strelets Regiment. Later, it formed Meat, Obzhorny, Fur, Patchwork series - a huge, dirty little market with taverns. In the XIX century, it is an area with a dense residential area. Little market moved to China Town to the Old and New Square, but here traded cloth, fur coats. The area was built up barns, arcades and houses with cheap furnished apartment they lived in Moscow students. In 1930, guided by the Master Plan for Reconstruction of Moscow, approved in 1935, the whole neighborhood was demolished. At the same time Moscow has lost one of the most interesting hotels in the old Moscow - "patchwork", which loved to dwell AP Czechs [http://um.mos.ru/personalities/9867/], Andreev, FM Dostoevsky [http://um.mos.ru/personalities/31228/], Kuprin. Long lived and P. Boborykin Bunin [http://um.mos.ru/personalities/4815/]. From 1940 until 1990 the area was empty. The original plan was conceived on her erect several monuments, but in fact has become a huge parking area for tourist buses. In the early 1990s Manezh hosted the meetings. Thousands of meeting people who opposed the Soviet regime, gathered under the walls of the Kremlin. In 1993 he decided to build up the area. On the draft MM Posokhin and ZK Tsereteli at the Manege and below the multi-storey underground store and ground seating area, completely change the look and value of the area. Today it is a place to walk Muscovites. Along the border of the Manege Square and Alexander Garden laid channel of the river, along its sculptures of ZK Tsereteli. Center of the square is crowned with a dome installed on it a sculpture of St. George. On the basis of numerous finds discovered at Manezh Square, was organized by the Archaeological Museum. In the museum you can see the remains of the Resurrection of the bridge over the Neglinnaya, treasures, fragments of the wooden bridge. In 1995, the History Museum [http://um.mos.ru/houses/gosudarstvennyy_istoricheskiy_muzey/] was discovered the statue of the commander GK Zhukov, sculptor VM Klykova.
