8 Naschokinsky lane

В 1897 г. архитектор Петр Павлович Щекотов выстроил красивый доходный дом в готическом стиле по заказу почетного гражданина Москвы Константина Федоровича Лазарева. Здание богато украшено портиками, резным декором, фигурными вставками, мозаикой, другими сложными архитектурными элементами и стилистически выделяется среди своих соседей.

В 2005 г. была проведена реконструкция здания. Особого интереса в ходе этой реставрации заслуживает работа специалистов из Центра историко-градостроительных исследований: они отступили от первоначального вида здания, но зато сумели воссоздать дух готики, разместив на фасаде изображения фантастических существ, в авторском проекте отсутствовавших. Так, на выступающем эркере появилась голова химеры, а над аркой бывшего проходного двора — единорог. Изящные, даже миниатюрные украшения не очень соответствуют авторскому стилю Петра Щекотова (элементы декора он предпочитал крупные), но этому зданию они «пришлись впору». Также в ходе последней реконструкции был надстроен мансардный этаж.

Сегодня Нащокинский, 8 — это офисно-жилой комплекс.

This is a Gothic "bestiary" in the center of Moscow Architect Peter Pavlovich Shchekotov built the beautiful apartment house in the Gothic style at the request of Konstantin Lazarev, the honorary citizen of Moscow in 1897. The building is richly decorated with porticoes, carved decoration, curly inserts, mosaics, other complex architectural elements and stylistically stands out among its neighbors. In 2005, the building was reconstructed. Particular interest during this restoration work deserves specialists from the Center for Historical and urban research: they departed from the original form of the building, but were able to recreate the spirit of Gothic, placed on the facade images of fantastic creatures, which were absent in the author's project. So, on the serving bay window the chimera's head appeared, and above the arch of the former passage yard there was a unicorn. Graceful, even miniature jewelry does not correspond very much to the author's style of Peter Shchekotov (he preferred large items of decor), but this building "fell into place". Also during the last reconstruction the attic floor was built up. Today Naschokinsky, 8 is an office and residential complex.
