"House of songs"

Сейчас, глядя на дома 8, 10 и 12 по Тверскому бульвару, сложно определить, где кончается один и начинается другой. Они смотрятся как единое целое, а ведь когда в 1910 году был построен дом № 8, он был самым высоким домом по четной стороне Тверского бульвара.

Семиэтажный доходный дом принадлежал В.Ф. Греффе и был построен по проекту архитектора Н.Г. Лазарева. Ему же принадлежал проект дома № 10 (1908 год). На фасаде здания минимум украшений, выдержан строгий, спокойный стиль, все линии лаконичные.

В доме № 8 до революции располагался «Дом песни» баронессы Марии Алексеевны Олениной‑д'Альгейм. Сейчас мало кто слышал об этой популярной в начале ХХ века исполнительнице романсов. Современники вспоминали, что «голос её был небольшой, не очень красивого тембра» и что её вокальная манера «не отличалась безупречностью». Секрет её таланта был в великолепной дикции (газеты писали о «декламаторском таланте») и актерском мастерстве. Она прекрасно могла передать содержание романса или песни. Весь репертуар Мария Алексеевна помнила наизусть.

«Дом песни» был своего рода клубом, который она организовала вместе с мужем. Выступления самой Олениной часто сопровождались лекциями и беседами об искусстве. Здесь можно было увидеть В. Брюсова и А. Белого. В 1908‑1916 годах «Дом песни» провел семь поэтических и музыкальных конкурсов с участием зарубежных композиторов. «Дом песни» издавал газету, бюллетени, брошюры с аннотациями и текстами исполнявшихся в концертах песен; проводил занятия с певцами. В 1912 году было учреждено общество «Дом песни», целью которого были изучение поэзии и музыки и подготовка исполнителей. К 1917 году в обществе состояло более тысячи участников в Москве и Петрограде.

После революции Альгейм с мужем уезжают во Францию, но в 1959 году актриса возвращается в СССР. К сожалению, не сохранилось ни единой записи ее голоса.

She was able to transfer the contents of a romance or songs to listeners perfectly. Maria Alexeevna remembered the entire repertoire by heart. Maria organized the "House of Song" club together with her husband. Olenina’s Performances were often accompanied by lectures and conversations about art. V.Bryusov and A. Bely visited here. "House of Song" conducted seven poetic and musical competitions with the participation of foreign composers in 1908-1916. "House of Song" published a newspaper, newsletters, brochures, annotations and texts of songs performed in concerts, conducted classes for singers. “House of Song " company was established with the purpose of the studying of poetry and music and the preparation of the performers in 1912. Over a thousand people were members of the community in Moscow and St. Petersburg by 1917. After the revolution, Algeym and her husband leave for France, but in 1959 the actress returned to the USSR. Unfortunately, not a single record of her voice was preserved.
