The Church of Dimitry Prilutsky

Храм в честь Преподобного Димитрия Прилуцкого был сооружен на средства московского купца Дмитрия Петровича Сторожева на участке института Патологоанатомии при Императорском Московском университете.

Клинический городок на Девичьем поле начал строиться в 1880-х гг. Первое здание часовни в честь Преподобного Димитрия Прилуцкого было построено в 1890 г.

Позднее известный московский благотворитель Д.П. Сторожев обратился в ректорат Университета с просьбой о постройке на месте часовни храма. Сторожев имел собственный дом на Б. Царицынской улице (ныне Б. Пироговская), напротив университетских клиник. Он входил в совет Александровской больницы Московского купеческого общества, а также был попечителем Солодовниковской богадельни.

Своим даром он хотел "дать возможность бедным людям отпевать умерших при Университетских клиниках родственников по совершении литургии, не назначая за это никакой определенной платы". Так он определил свое пожелание в письме к ректору университета.

Однако до постройки Дмитрий Петрович не дожил. Храм возвели через год после его кончины. Перед смертью он завещал своему племяннику Сергею Петровичу Сотворенкову завершить начатое дело.

Автором проекта нового храма был архитектор Б. Кожевников. Монументальное здание было выполнено в «византийском стиле», что могло быть определено при участии главного архитектора Клинического городка К.М. Быковского.

Храм был освящен 25 сентября 1903 года (8 октября по новому стилю). После революции церковь закрыли.

В 1960-х гг. в здании находилась типография, в 1980-х – лаборатория анестезиологии 1-го Московского медицинского института и кислородная станция, затем склад использованного белья Медицинской академии. В 1990-х гг. сотрудники Академии возбудили вопрос о возвращении храма церкви. И уже через год богослужение было возобновлено.

Это единственный в Москве престол в честь святого Димитрия Прилуцкого. Храмовая икона Преп. Димитрия Прилуцкого написана в 1991 г. современным иконописцем в древнерусской традиции. Этот святой – один из замечательнейших подвижников, молитвенник и строгий аскет, пользовавшийся большим почитанием у наших предков.

Также сейчас в храме находятся частицы мощей св. целителя Пантелеимона и чтимая Феодоровская икона Богородицы.

Storojev owned a house on Bolshaya Tsaritsynskaya (now Bolshaya Pirogovskaya) street across the street from the University Hospital. He served on the board of the Alexander Hospital of the Moscow merchant society, and was a trustee of Solodovnikovsky almshouses.

By his gift, he wanted "to enable poor people to read the burial of deceased relatives at the University Clinic for the liturgy, without paying a fix price for it." Therefore, he identified his wish in a letter to the rector of the university.

However, Dmitry Petrovich did not live up to the construction. The temple built a year after his death. Before his death, he bequeathed to his nephew Sergei Petrovich Sotvorenkov to finish the job.

The author of the project of the new church was the architect B. Kozhevnikov. The monumental building carried out in the "Byzantine style", which could be determined with the participation of the chief architect of the Clinical town KM Bykovsky.

The church was consecrated On September 25, 1903 (October 8, new style). After the Revolution, the church closed.

In the 1960s printing house was in the building, in the 1980s - Laboratory of Anesthesiology 1st Moscow Medical Institute and the oxygen plant, then – a warehouse of used linen Medical Academy. In the 1990s Members of the Academy to raise the question of the return of the temple of the church. A year later service was resumed.
