Exhibition complex "Artillery yard"

The new exposition site of the State Historical Museum “Artillery Yard” acquaints visitors with an extensive collection of artillery pieces, supplies and ammunition of the 16th – 20th centuries. Artillery yard was opened in 2014. The inner space of the Old Mint - a unique complex of buildings of the XVIII – XIX centuries, is available for free visits. Earlier, the collection of artillery of the Historical Museum was exhibited only partially, in the framework of thematic exhibitions. The new platform presents the entire collection of artillery from the collection of the GIM: artillery barrels of Russian production of the XVI – XIX centuries, artillery systems of the period of the Great Patriotic War, as well as samples of ammunition of the XIX – XX centuries. The exhibition space is divided into platforms, where the exhibits are thematically grouped according to the chronological principle: “Russian cannon business of the XVI – XVII centuries.”, “Artillery of the XVIII – XIX centuries.”, “Artillery systems of the XX century.” The exhibition provides visitors access to each exhibit inside the platform.
