The Moscow museum of archeology

The Moscow museum of archeology, located in an underground pavilion on the depth of 7 meters in the historical centre of the city, directly on the place of large archeological excavations of the 1993-1996th, gives a view of the medieval capital, history of development of the territory of modern Manezh Square, contains overview about methodology of archeological research. The museum acquaint with material culture of Moscow and the Moscow region from the Paleolithic to the 19th century. The exposition is based on the foundations of the Voskresenskiy Bridge of the 17-18th centuries, which connected two banks of the Neglinnaya River in the past, that were discovered during the excavations. The Moscow museum of archeology is a member of the Museum association “Museum of Moscow”.

Информация о музее

Музей археологии Москвы – филиал одного из старейших музеев столицы, Музея Москвы. Он появился осенью 1997 года после завершения масштабных археологических раскопок на Манежной площади, связанных с её реконструкцией. В результате совместных усилий археологов, архитекторов, реставраторов, строителей, музейных сотрудников, при поддержке Правительства Москвы, был создан подземный музей археологии, открывший свои двери в дни празднования 850-летнего юбилея столицы в сентябре 1997 года. Любопытно, что изначально музей не имел наземных сооружений и вход начинался с лестницы, ведущей на глубину 7 метров от современной поверхности Манежной площади. Позже здесь был сооружен наземный павильон. Общая площадь подземного музея составляет 1300 квадратных метров. Спустившись, Вы можете воспользоваться бесплатным доступом к сети WI-FI.

The beginning of the museum was laid in the mid-nineties of the XIX century by a private collection of the famous Moscow industrialist and philanthropist Alexei Alexandrovich Bakhrushin. Today, the museum has more than one and a half million exhibits: sketches of costumes and scenery by outstanding masters of set design, photographs and portraits, stage costumes of great actors, programs and playbills of plays, rare publications on theatrical art, objects of decorative and applied art and much more. Theatrical collection has become one of the most valuable museum collections in modern Russia, it presents works by Bakst, Golovin, Kustodiev, Dobuzhinsky, Korovin, Yuon, Roerich, Tatlin, Exter, Rodchenko, Popova and other eminent masters. A variety of exhibitions are held in the main building of the museum and its many branches. The Bakhrushin Museum is always open for theater lovers. In addition to a detailed excursion program, interesting for both children and adults, the museum organizes lectures on the history of the theater using unique stock materials, meetings with famous artists, and creative evenings.

Gallery “Belyaevo”The State exhibition hall “Gallery “Belyaevo” was opened in 1988 and, nowadays, took grate fame in Moscow as the exhibition venue of the famous Russian and foreign artists.
