Большая Ордынка — улица в Центральном административном округе города Москвы. Проходит от Малого Москворецкого моста до Серпуховской площади. Центральная и древнейшая улица исторического Замоскворечья.
О седой древности говорит уже само название улицы — Ордынка. Здесь проходила дорога в Золотую Орду, вдоль нее селились ордынцы – ханские послы.
Еще в конце 15 века свое звание главной улицы района Ордынка уступает параллельной Пятницкой.
Справа по Ордынке в 17-18 веках находилась Кадашевская хамовная (т.е. ткацкая) слобода, поставлявшая к государеву двору скатерти и другие полотняные изделия.
С 18 века тихую Ордынку избирает своим местом жительства служивое дворянство и богатое купечество. В ту пору улица украсилась множеством прекрасных построек гражданского и храмового зодчества
Жить на Ордынке людям состоятельным было легко и привольно: все движение давно перешло на Пятницкую, даже магазинов было не много.
В 1899 году Ордынку обсадили липами.
Для связи с центром через Водоотводный канал, в начале Большой Ордынки, в 1937 году был переброшен Малый Москворецкий мост, который является как бы продолжением Большого (инженер Г.В. Броверман).
Улица во многом и по сей день сохранила свой мирный, уютный облик, особенно в южной своей части.
